John and I went to see the Dr. Seuss movie this week,
"Horton Hears The Who". Of course I related essential oils to
the simple truth, Horton the Elephant, kept trying to explain
to the Kangaroo: Everyone is important no matter how
small. Due to their aromas, essential oils teach us to
honor the individuality in each person...no matter how small,
how old, or how anything else. It is not about one size fits
all, and it is not about an aspirin a day for everyone.
Our sense of smell goes to the root of our emotional brain,
and changes how we think and feel instantaneously. This is
"major stuff". I teach that before putting Aromatherapy blends
on someone, you ask permission and have them take a whiff to
see "how they feel". This is common sense and respect.
I started my private practice making personalized blends
for each person. This work resulted in the formulas now
available in our product line.
However, I am now offering private consultations
again, to make personal blends or address specific situations
with an Aromatherapy regimen. There is a time for all seasons.
Our formulas are here for most of the time. Then there is a
time for "Mary's Oil" or "John's Oil." If you are in this
place, I am here.
Our OLA Seven Sampler is our special this month.
These blends are the result of my Aromatherapy Massage
practice. You and your nose choose the one you need at
different times. Explore, enjoy, and observe the changes.

Happy Customers report:
" I love your OLA Seven Sampler, and I take it with
me when I travel. Thank you."
"I ordered some Deep Rub Gel because I have been
having a real problem with my heel hurting. Nothing I have
done seems to help, including stretching exercises, to
lengthen the tendon that goes over the heel. Well, in only 3
days, I am almost pain free, and there is very little
soreness. Amazing."
"Thanks again for the Rejuvenation Face Gel, I love
it! I can see how this would be a great men's aftershave
because it is so soothing. I especially enjoyed it right after
having my lip waxed. I usually have a little reaction a few
days after a lip wax, and this time I didn't!!"

The Nose Knows |

Many of you have heard me say over the years, that after
you learn all the left-brain mental information about
essential oils...it is really the nose that knows what we
need, based on how the aroma makes us FEEL.
Smell is the least known and explored of the five senses.
In the 1980's, I read that the sense of smell would be one of
the great explorations of the 21st Century. I knew for me, it
was one of the main elements that brought me out of pain and
exhaustion. This was the soul call that took me to England to
study. Now, we see researchers and scientists reporting on the
unspoken connection of smells, emotions, and experiences; and
the potential this brings to health. In 2004 the Nobel Prize
in Physiology or Medicine went to two American olfactory
researchers.
Smell sends a message to the brain through the olfactory
system, and speaks the language of thought, memory, and
emotion. It is the most complete of the five senses at
birth, indicating smell is a survival mechanism and helps us
sense danger and safety.
Studies at Northwestern University's Medical School in
Chicago, Illinois, show that a strong emotional experience can
heighten our sense of smell at that moment, and results in a
conditioned emotional response to that same smell in the
future. A 2005 study showed: "Smelling an unfamiliar odor
while playing a frustrating video game provoked a dislike of
the scent." How we feel when we experience a specific aroma,
can condition our response to that smell. We all perceive
aromas differently. This is one reason why aromas play such a
magnificent and pleasant role in our sense of well-being.
Many have asked why my OLA Seven Massage Blends have
numbers instead of names. Yes, the oils have their specific
properties, but the aromas do different things for different
people at different times. OLA Three might be calming for you
at one time, and stimulating at another. A blend you don't
care for right now, may be your favorite at another time. Our
response changes as we change. Names limit their potential.
Take a moment right now to think of a smell that brings up
an unpleasant memory. Notice how you FEEL. Maybe even your
body reacts physically. Now think of a great aroma and memory.
Notice how you feel. Let's end on this aroma.
Our OLA Seven Sampler is our monthly special.
Explore these aromas. Learn about yourself. Your nose knows
what you need. Honor and celebrate this inherent wisdom within
you. |
