Salutations To You!
Happy August. In the heat of summer, I hope you keep misting
away! Even in the house it is such a fresh breath of air, and a lift
to the spirits. This month we visit Yarrow.
Yarrow is not one of the most familiar essential oils. I have
worked with it for years, and found it's anti-inflammatory
properties superb. To walk amongst the plant here in Colorado is
quite a sacred gift.
Our Aromatic Best to you for Happy Thoughts and Healthy

Our Master Set of the OLA Seven Massage Blends is a gem of
a gift. These seven blends evolved through my practice. They
come in lovely 4 oz cobalt blue glass bottles with white
lock-pump tops.
The Rainbow colored-laminated chart is included with the
set. This gives you a blend for each reason or season of the
day, week, or month of your life.

Traveling to Silverton, Colorado last weekend, we joined
the Durango Rock and Gem Club on a expedition to Emma Lake to
hunt for rocks. We were up 13,500 feet and our truck "Big
Bertha" got the job done with flying colors. Puppy Muga came
too. Click photo to see larger.
While we were all searching for rocks, I also ended up
wandering around in the wildflowers. What a spot ... up in
God's Cathedral with green grass, snow capped mountains, and
wild flowers (and lots of rocks).
I've always known the powerful healing properties of Yarrow
(i.e. in our Skin Calm Gel), but had never been amongst the
flowers. Such small fern-like green leaves, and such little
delicate white flowers, clustered at the top like Baby's
Breath. Pinching the flowers and leaves, released that very
familiar wonderful aromatic scent. So we came back with rocks
... and specimens of Yarrow ... a good day.
Enjoy each day for what it is ... and remember to choose
thoughts and actions that make your heart smile and your
spirit soar. Life is short....and oh so precious.

Yarrow in Skin Calm Gel |
|
|
|
It is so interesting how we think we are doing something
for one reason, and find out that it is really about so much
more. This is the case with Yarrow in our Skin Calm Gel
formula.
Yarrow (Achilles millefolium) is a perennial herb whose
essential oil is the result of the steam distillation from
leaves and flowering tops. It is found mostly in Europe,
Africa and USA at higher altitudes. The oil is a dark
blue-green color which gives us a hint about its calming,
toning, anti-inflammatory properties. It goes back in history
to treating Achilles's wounds from iron weapons. In China, it
is used for menstrual problems and hemorrhoids, and in Norway
for rheumatism.
In addition to anti-inflammatory and antirheumatic it is
also known to be anti-spasmodic and astringent. These
properties account for some of its most recognized uses is in
skin care, especially for sores, rashes and inflamed skin.
Yarrow is in our Skin Calm Gel formula, because it works
beautifully with Chamomile, Lavender, and Rose. This is also a
very calming formula for the nervous system. See "What's On
Your Mind" for more uses.
On a medicinal plant hike at 11,000 feet in the San Juan
Mountains today, we learned the leaves of the Yarrow plant are
used to stop bleeding. Good to know, when hiking high.
May our Skin Calm Gel provide calming, soothing, and
cooling properties to your life.
