Many of you have heard me use the term "soulful elements".
Our lives at this time in history are often short on "soulful
elements". These are the things that are made of truth and
wisdom, simplicity and beauty, compassion and passion. They
warm our heart, call in our spirit and soothe the soul.
Some of the things I call "soulful elements" are: special
foods, certain music, essential oils, good chocolate, books,
naps, prayer/meditation, tea or coffee with a friend, quiet
moments to read and write, and walks in nature. These are just
a few. What would your list look like?
This is a wonderful year to put together gifts of "soulful
elements" for those you love. A dear friend of mine sends me
her homemade biscottis, a family recipe, every Christmas...and
I send her Rejuvenation Face Gel. Let your creative juices
flow with soulful elements. Once you get started, you'll love
it. Giving and receiving become one.
Some things I would include are: Essential Oils, Gels and
Mists, Delicious Chocolate, Good Coffee or Tea, a candle made
of beeswax, a little book of wisdom, and a stuffed animanl.
What would you put in yours?

Comments from previous newsletters:
"This summer while out for our evening walk, Pepsi, my 1
1/2 year old Spaniel rolled over in a mound of fire ants. When
I noticed them all over her, I ran home and we both went in
the pool. When we got out I treated her with the Skin Calm Gel
and she was greatly relieved. I also put a little Tea Tree oil
on the 9 bites on her tummy. They dried up with days. I was
overwhelmed by how quickly they disappeared." Terri in
Florida.
Update: In traveling by air last month, the new airpline
rule allows each person to carry 3 ounces( 30 mls to 1 oz) of
gel or liquid. They must be in a clear plastic baggy and
presented at the security check. This is good news. I put in
two 1/4 oz gels, a 4 ml Breath Mint, and a 4 ml each of
Lavender and Peppermint. The Ear/Nose/Throat oil was on cotton
balls in my ears. There was room to spare!

Joy and Aromas |
|
|
|
It is well known that pleasant aromas bring a lot of joy
into our lives. Think of your favorite smells and notice just
how thinking about them makes you feel.
Aroma is from a Greek word that means "sweet scents to the
brain". This related to cooking with spices and herbs and the
aromas of perfumes, which originally were pure essential oils.
Being in a home of wonderful aromas is food for the soul and
warms the heart. You can add to this with diffusers of
essential oils. Some to choose from are: Lavender, Orange,
Peppermint, Lemon, Rose, Jasmine, or any combinations like
Precious Christmas Oil (Pine, Cinnamon, Clove, and Orange) and
the 7 OLA Essential Oil Combinations not in Jojoba. The
ability of an aroma to create joy, is a physiological response
due to the olfactory system's relationship to the brain.
Anosmia means loss of the sense of smell. Studies show
people experiencing this, often suffer from depression. Other
studies says that as much as 80% of taste is smell. We know
the pleasures of eating good food. Taste and smell are a major
part of our lives. Food and oils were always considered to be
wonderful gifts. Celebrations of all kinds included great food
and wonderful aromas. Royalty were often chastised for their
extravagant use of Rose petals and Rose oil.
Bring aromas of joy and gladness into your life and the
lives of those around you. To add to the "green- ness" in the
world, use pure essential oils. Even those of us with
allergies, are usually just fine with the pure ones. It is the
synthetic smells that play havoc with our respiratory system,
and eventually our immune system.
Holidays are often stressful, and sometime memories can
bring up sadness and even depression. Arm yourself with oils
and mists. Choose the ones you love the most, and call in the
spirit of gratitude and the wonder of awe. May giving and
receiving be one for you. It was always meant to be this way.
