Welcome
to "The Aromatic Car". The last 2 issues of our OLM have been the
Aromatic Home and The Aromatic Office. Since our car is often a second home
and/or office, this can also be an oasis of aromas. We spend lots of time
in our home, office, and car. Take charge and create places of joy and
peace. The world needs it.
April 1st
sees my husband and I back in Naples, Fl. John is the
newest member of our OLA™ team, and we are all excited! Our studio-shop
will be OPEN Saturdays 11am to 4pm starting April
3rd. Come see us!

What Can I Do?

Tools for your
Aromatic Car: diffuser, cotton balls, essential oils and Lavender Mist.
Select oils you love. Lavender and Orange are good
stress-relievers. Peppermint and Lemon are good energizers. Use ONLY pure
essential oils.
1. Keep
Lavender Mist in the car or in your purse/briefcase. Mist yourself as
much as you need. It causes you to pause, breath deeper, and relax.
2. Put
a diffuser or some cotton balls in the car. Clay pots are excellent. Add
1-2 drops as needed. Start a new ritual that signals the brain to relax.
3.
Sprinkle a few drops around on the carpet or upholstered seats. Go light.
Less is often more.

Q&A: We're glad you asked!

What do you
think about the Aromatherapy Car Diffusers that plug into the cigarette
lighter?
There
are many out there. I've tried several and still prefer a clay pot
diffuser or some cotton balls. You simply add a few drops pf essential
oil to these as needed. Experiment and see what works best for you. Let
it be a joyful and fun experience.

Where in the World?

On our way back to Naples from Saudi Arabia, John and I
spent 2 weeks of winter in England and Scotland. Within 36
hours we went from black abayas and head
scarves in the quiet desert of the Arabic culture; to coats, hats and
long underwear in the noisy busy streets of London in a blustering
snow storm. There is a lesson here.
This
trip was graced with a wonderful afternoon of tea with my most prized
Aromatherapy teacher, Madame Micheline Arcier and her daughter Marie
Christine. The soulful reunion was a delight for all four of us.
Take
time to be the silent witness of daily events, and with a grateful heart,
be in awe of the mystery of life and its relations.

This Month's OLA™ Storyteller: More Good News!

I decided to
quit smoking and was doing everything I knew to help myself. The hardest
time was in my car, one of the places I enjoyed smoking the most. The
smell of cigarettes was still tempting. After talking with you, I put a
clay pot diffuser with drops of Lemon in it, and also put drops of Lemon
on the carpet and upholstered seats. This did it. I am no longer smoking.
Thanks.

The Aromatic Car

How much time do
you spend in your car? Whether it is the occasional errand or most of
your waking life, it is another place we can make an oasis or a sanctuary
of peace for ourselves and all who enter. This involves creating an
environment that makes us feel good.
Sometimes it is nice to have our
favorite music; other times solitude and quiet is the answer. Choose
mindfully. Studies show some rap and hard rock music are insults to our
nervous system and reinforce stress and irritability. Some classical and
other music cause the brain to put out biochemistry that is calming and
soothing.
Aromas with high-grade pure essential
oils are a silent companion of compassion and peace. They actually
encourage us to get quiet and listen. The car is a good place to get
answers to questions we have.
Another reason to keep essential oils in
the car is for traveling and motion sickness issues. Lavender calms the
nerves; Peppermint helps with drowsiness and motion sickness. During my
2-hour drives to school at 5:30am, it was deep breaths
of Peppermint that kept me awake at the wheel. See "What Can I
Do" to create your Aromatic Car.
