What Can I Do?

You can now take
the HEAT out of BURNS and SUNBURNS. Your tools: Lavender, Lavender Mist,
OLA™ Skin Calm Gel.
BURNS:
1. As quickly as possible add straight pure Lavender to the area, drop by
drop. Continue adding one drop at a time as pain demands. 2. If necessary
use ice water compresses with 2-3 drops of Lavender on the cloth. 3. When
the pain has subsided, soothe the area by putting some Jojoba, honey, or
aloe in your palm and adding a drop of Lavender to use as a healing
balm...or use our OLA™ Skin Calm Gel. 4. Our OLA™ Scar Oil is available
for any marks or scars left from burns. This is very effective with old
scars.
SUNBURNS:
1. Lavender Mist the whole area continually and as often as you like to take the heat and pain away. Usually this is
enough. 2. If the sunburn is severe, apply our OLA™ Skin Calm Gel. 3. Use
ice water compresses with 2-3 drops of Lavender on the cold wet cloth, if
necessary.
Caution:
Do not use these methods if the skin is broken. Consult medical advice
immediately. If you get an irritable reaction to Lavender, then use Blue
(German) Chamomile and follow the same procedure.

Q&A: We're glad you asked!
|
|

|
|
Are there any
essential oils that serve as sunscreens, and is it safe to use essential
oils on the skin before going out into the sun?
Essential
oils do not serve as sunblocks or sunscreens.
They are highly concentrated, volatile liquids that are sensitive to
heat, light, and oxygen. We do not support the use of straight essential
oil directly on the skin.
There
are many essential oils that are extremely photosensitive. These include
all the citrus oils, particularly Bergamot. Using these oils straight on
the skin before sun exposure, can create brown blotches and actually burn
the skin.
Essential
oils properly blended in base ingredients...like our OLA™ Custom Blends
and Gels, are perfectly safe. Our Rejuvenation Face Gel is especially
good to use under sunscreen. It serves as excellent protection and
nutrition for your face.

Where in the World?
|
|

|
|
Bahrain is only a long
ride across the breath-taking causeway from Saudi Arabia...but it is
worlds away from the environment and the culture. The Persian Gulf is a gorgeous turquiose... for as far as the eye can see. On the
island half-way across the causeway, there are 3 checkpoints to clear, as
you leave one world and enter the other.
After a
trip to Bahrain, and the old
fishing town of Qatif in Saudi Arabia on the Persian Gulf...John and I
feel blessed to be able to experience this, in these troubled times. The
world of water and greenery and all of its brightness; and the world of
the desert and dust storms and all of its harshness.
The
month of June will see me back in Naples. Call Trish and
Donna to join us for our 6th Anniversary and my Lecture and Tea on June
6th. I look forward to sharing my stories and photos with you.

This Month's OLA™ Storyteller: More Good News!

"This was
so amazing to me. Please pass this good news on to others.
Standing
at the stove with my baby in one arm, I was cooking bacon. The next thing
I knew, hot sizzling bacon grease had spilled down my leg. You can
imagine the pain and the panic!
Remembering
your words, I grabbed the bottle of Lavender and put it straight on the
areas. The initial relief from pain was instant, and I continued putting
more on as the pain came back. When that subsided, I had no blisters or
scars. What a miracle! Thank you!"

Burn and Sunburn Relief
|
|

|
|
Essential oils
provide some of the best relief available for the heat and pain of BURNS
and SUNBURNS. This is due to their anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and
antibacterial properties. LAVENDER is the oil of choice...hands down. Dr.
Jean Valnet of France, the reknown
aromatherapist medical doctor, claims Lavender to
be "the treatment for wounds of all descriptions." Lavender is
so effective with burns, that it deserves a place on every kitchen shelf.
Most Aromatherapy books tell the story
of the French chemist, Gattefosse (he coined the word
"Aromatherapy" in the 1930's), who burned his hands in a lab
explosion and instinctively put them in a vat of pure Lavender. He
experienced no pain or scars. This is hard to believe until you have
experienced the relief from an iron or stove burn, by applying Lavender.
The natural chemical constituents in
Lavender account for its cooling and pain relieving properties. The
antibacterial properties help prevent infection. The natural cell
regenerative properties aid in healing the skin without blisters or
scars. The sooner you get the treatment started after the burn or
sunburn, the better the results. However, getting it on at any time is
still remarkably healing.
The treatment routine for BURNS starts
with using straight Lavender, drop by drop. Then there are options of
using ice water compresses with Lavender, and/or our OLA™ Skin Calm Gel.
The treatment routine for SUNBURNS starts with Lavender Mist (NOT
straight Lavender....the area is too big.). Then continue with the OLA™Skin Calm Gel and ice water compresses with
Lavender if needed. See our section "What Can I DO" for more
specific instructions.
