Jojoba was originally called "Hohowi” by Southwestern Native American Indians, and known as "the miracle plant of the desert.” Traced back to 1585, Jojoba can grow up to 10 feet with 30-foot roots and can live to 100 years old. The oil is actually a liquid wax contained in the plant’s dark brown bean. Jojoba has an indefinite shelf life with no refrigeration and does not go rancid since it is not an "oil”.

Organic Golden Jojoba is the highest quality of Jojoba.

Originally I used about 10 different base oils in my massage blends and when I first poured Organic Golden Jojoba in the palm of my hands to give a massage, I knew it was something special. It is now 100% of our base for our massage and self-care blends.

SKIN CARE
Jojoba is highly antibacterial and molecularly similar to the body’s own oil. It is easily absorbed into the skin and penetrates to the deepest layer, and is beneficial to the skin as it contains natural anti-oxidants reducing free radical activity (which breakdown cell walls of lipids in our skin and cause premature aging and wrinkling). Jojoba is non-toxic, non-irritating to the eyes or skin, non-acne producing and shows no allergenic contact sensitization for most people.

Routine application of Jojoba softens the skin, increases the skin’s elasticity and enhances the skin’s cellular regeneration processes. Jojoba prevents water loss from the skin and has been shown to reduce superficial facial lines. It smooths rough, dry skin and inhibits excess flaking of epidermal cells leaving skin robust and velvety to the touch.

Jojoba is a valuable tool in the treatment of acne. Because Jojoba dissolves sebum, the pores are less likely to be clogged and blemishes are less likely to form. In a study, Jojoba was shown to be significantly successful in helping relieve the symptoms of psoriasis when applied to the affected area twice daily.

HAIR AND SCALP CARE
Jojoba keeps hair and scalp healthy by supplementing and preserving the moisture and natural lipids (fats) in hair and scalp. Jojoba helps restore softness, shine and manageability of hair by affecting the outer hardened keratin layer of the hair shaft, which becomes brittle and splinters when subjected to harsh conditions.

Jojoba is useful in scalp related problems as it dissolves and displaces sebum build-up thereby eliminating flaking and oily build-up due to hardened sebum. Jojoba also helps to unclog the hair follicle, preventing loss of the hair shaft and eventual death of the follicle, thus allowing the hair follicles to resume their normal function.
